The Contemporary European Studies Association of Australia (CESAA) is calling for papers for the conference that will take place at RMIT University in Melbourne on 6 and 7 November 2019. The title of this conference is “Europe in a Year of Transition: Challenges and Opportunities”.
This conference offers scholars, early career researchers, students, policymakers, and those with an interest in European-Australia relations an opportunity to examine the various aspects of the European Union (EU), and Europe more broadly, in a context of continuity and change.
As the Brexit deadlock continues, and with current economic, social, cultural, political and environmental uncertainties in play, the transition within the EU institutions in 2019 adds another significant dimension to the processes of change in Europe. Elections for the European Parliament, new Presidents for the European Commission and the European Council, and a new High Representative together mean a very important new leadership for the EU. What are some of the key challenges for this new leadership? How might they respond?
Sessions and papers are invited across all relevant disciplines.
Abstracts for proposed papers or special sessions should be submitted (200 words or less) via email to bmascitelli@swin.edu.au
Please direct any enquiries about the conference to Professor Bruno Mascitelli at bmascitelli@swin.edu.au
