On 6 December 2024, the University of Melbourne hosted the conference of the European Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand (ESAANZ). The ESAANZ 2024 conference focused on the complexities of continuing challenges and transformations in Europe and its neighbourhood from a variety of perspectives: politics, economy, environment and society. The conference gathered papers across the broad spectrum of disciplines relating to Europe in these transformative times.
The conference welcome address was delivered by the EU Ambassador to Australia, HE Gabriele Visentin. The Ambassador addressed the participants exploring the idea of hope linked to the conference theme: A path forward for Europe: pursuing peace, justice and hope.
